Here are the steps I used to make it:

I printed the stencil.

I decaptitated the pumpkin with a sawzall and then scooped out the guts with an ice cream scoop.

I taped the stencil to the pumpkin. I used a nail to poke through the stencil at the edges. This transfered the outline of the stencil onto the surface of the pumpkin.

I then did all of the carving with a jig saw. It didn't take long.
